Electro-Pest, registry ID IS-0173-B, is a variant of Pest, which has been cybernetically augmented by Dr. Abraham Stern. They can be found around Cascade Laboratories.

Gameplay

Behavior

Like a standard Pest, the Electro-Pest leaps at its target, causing damage on contact. However, when it begins its leap, it emits a shock ring, dealing 30 Blunt Stun damage to anything in its radius. This can occur only once every 3.5 seconds.

If the Electro-Pest's shock ring is charged, attacking it at close range will damage the attacker for 30 Blunt Stun damage.

Combat Tips

In contrast to the ordinary Pest, the Electro-Pest is far more dangerous due to its shock ring attack, which emits electricity in a radius upon leaping up. It bypasses shields (due to it being an area-of-effect attack), so it can be deadly if the player ends up fighting multiple Electro-Pests at once. Attacking it with ranged attacks or evading its attack while countering with melee weapons are recommended strategies. The attack has a 3.5 second cooldown, so it will only occur roughly every other leap.

If you are wearing at least two pieces of Carapace Armor, attacking a charged Electro-Pest with a melee weapon will quickly kill you. This is because the effects of Prickly and Thorns cause an infinite damage loop: You hit the Electro-Pest, it damages you back, your armor damages it, it damages you back, and so on. The Electro-Pest always wins because it's doing 30 damage per frame compared to your 7 at best. Either wait for it to do their shock ring, or use a ranged weapon.

They can be captured using the Pest Trap, which gives the player a rather useful (attack) companion, however both the Pest and Electro-Pest are sluggish outside of combat.
