Similar to the normal variant, it is a stationary entity and will attack by attaching a tentacle to the hostile entity. Unlike the normal Carbuncle it deals additional poison damage.
Combat Tips
Like the Carbuncle, they make a distinct sound and can be easily dispatched by sneaking up to them. The Carbuncle Crown and Carbuncle Crest will cause them to ignore the player entirely.
The Tainted Carbuncle is named after a cluster of boils caused by a bacterial infection of the skin. They have some visual similarities in common.
The Tainted Carbuncle was likely inspired by the Barnacle from the Half-Life series, since they are both stationary aliens that latch onto their prey with a long, thin tongue.
