Tainted Carbuncle is a hostile creature found in the Facilities. It is a variant of the Carbuncle.
Behavior
Similar to the normal variant, it is a stationary entity and will attack by attaching a tentacle to the hostile entity. Unlike the normal Carbuncle it deals additional poison damage.
Combat Tips
Like the Carbuncle, they make a distinct sound and can be easily dispatched by sneaking up to them. The Carbuncle Crown and Carbuncle Crest will cause them to ignore the player entirely.
Trivia
- The Tainted Carbuncle is named after a cluster of boils caused by a bacterial infection of the skin. They have some visual similarities in common.
- The Tainted Carbuncle was likely inspired by the Barnacle from the Half-Life series, since they are both stationary aliens that latch onto their prey with a long, thin tongue.
