A recent addition to the GATE's security apparatus, the Gate Automated Immurement Automaton, or "Containment Bot" for short, builds on the Security Bot architecture originally designed by Dr. Alice Mayfield by adding immurement protocols devised by Dr. Stewart Wakeman. The unit is currently undergoing field evaluation at the Cascade Research Facility.

Containment Robot is a hostile robot found in Cascade Laboratories, it is a stronger variant of the Security Robot.

Appearance

The Containment Robot is identical in design to the Security Robot, but with purple accent colors. It also features built-in armor plating, present on the shoulder joints and thighs. As the robot takes damage, this armor will be destroyed.

Behavior

Like the Security Robot, the Containment Robot stays in a Charging Pod during the day, and patrols at night. However, it will activate the moment anything approaches near its Charging Pod, which is indicated by purple hazard stripes on the floor. The Containment Robot is hostile to all entities, Order soldiers, the player and Deployable Objects placed by the player near it's patrol path.

The Containment Robot has less attacks than the Security Robot, but has new abilities. It can sprint with increased movement speed which allows it to pursue the player or other enemies better than their predecessor. The Containment Robot can also capture targets, to imprison them in a dedicated holding cell, if possible.

The Containment Robot has limited melee attacks, using its taser arm for combat.

  • Thunder Fist: Swings its arm as a melee attack. Electrically stuns a player if blocking with a shield.
  • Capture Target: Swings its arm, attempting to grab a target enemy. Once grabbed, enemies and players cannot use items or weapons. This will always break a players leg, unless one is already broken.

Combat Tips

Compared to the Security Robot, the Containment Robot is a stronger, more durable model, capable of taking and inflicting more damage. They possess less attacks, but their ability to sprint can catch unprepared players off guard. In addition, the robot will always attempt to capture its targets first instead of killing them.

Note that unlike most enemies, their torso reaching 0 health doesn't kill them. When this occurs, further hits will damage their head health pool instead. This means that when hitting one in the torso, they have an effective health of 800. Either hit it in the eye (the body part that counts as its head) or be prepared for a long fight.

  • While Containment Robots can be engaged with similar strategies for Security Robots, players must take extra precaution to use stronger equipment and defenses to deal with the threat effectively.
  • Players that are caught by a Containment Robot will be dropped if the Robot can be staggered with significant damage before the player is locked away.
  • Ranged weapons and explosives such as the Electro-Thrower Electro-Thrower and Electron Grenade Electron Grenade can make short work of the Containment Robot.
  • Setting up deployable base defenses such as Shock Trap Shock Traps and Tesla Coil Tesla Coils near to a robot's Charging Pod presents a relatively risk-free method of destroying Containment Robots.
    • Equipping the Glow Shard Glow Shard will minimize the risk presented from using Tesla Coils.
  • Equipping the Night Pass Night Pass will cause the Containment Robot to ignore the player. This enables players to safely cross the purple hazard stripes near Charging Pods without activating the Robot.

Notes

  • Containment Robots cannot grab Anteverse II entities, so they will attack until the target entity is dead.
  • There is a small gray panel placed next to the eye of every GATE Robot model. The panel has GATEs logo for the Containment Robot, but it is blank for the other robot variations.
