The GATE Cascade Research Facility, where the story of Abiotic Factor takes place, has many different sectors and mysterious locations. Exploring the facility reveals many Portal Worlds, which are portals to otherwordly, mysterious and often hostile environments that contain various items and enemies.
A few Portal Worlds are extra hidden, requiring a specific interaction to enter.
Portal World Reset
The Portal Worlds, also called Anteverses, have their resources reset on a set timer. Currently this occurs at midnight, between Tuesday and Wednesday and between Saturday and Sunday. A message will appear indicating the reset has happened. [1] This allows for repeated trips to the Portal Worlds to gather their items and resources.
The reset does not affect any items or objects placed by players, but only the "natural resources" of the Portal World. This allows staging areas to be built within the Portal Worlds, which persist through reset, without impairing reset of the Portal World's resources (provided no one is inside for a time prior to reset).
The Cascade Facility sectors do not reset in this manner.
Curiously, despite featuring a countdown to reset, the vocal announcement of the nightly reset starts at midnight, meaning the reset (and the UI message of it) occurs before the announcement begins, rather than at the end of the vocal countdown.
- ↑ Portal world resources will not refresh when a player is inside of one or shortly after a player has discovered a portal world for the first time. Once players are out of the portal world, the timer will be re-enabled for reset.

Portal Worlds
Required
These worlds are required for progression.
Optional
These worlds are optional, needing a specific item or higher tier of Keypad Hacker to access.
Easter Eggs
These worlds are hidden, smaller in size and typically require a specific action to enter.
Home Worlds
Home Worlds are downloadable content (DLC) portal locations that can be found in the Office Sector lobby.
They do not feature new NPCs or story, but are meant as purely cozy and/or cosmetic spaces to build a base.
