Rook

Behavior

Rooks are found in Voussoir, and are often seen patrolling or in stationary locations. They are also commonly found in a squad with other Order soldiers, especially Breachers.

Combat Tips

The Rook is a melee oriented enemy that can be annoying to dealt with due to their riot shield, which they generally keep raised except to attack. Usually, the easiest way to kill them is wait for them to move their shield to the side as they prepare to attack, then hit them with a high-damage attack first. The Rook can also be shot in their exposed feet below the shield, though after several shots to the feet, the Rook will kneel, concealing their feet and preventing this attack avenue.

Certain high-damage weapons, such as the Magbow, can stagger the Rook even with their shield raised, and potentially deal some damage through the shield, though it is greatly reduces. When fighting alongside other players, one player with a Magbow can reliably and repeatedly expose the Rook for others to attack.

Note when engaging multiple Order enemies, especially multiple Rooks, they can easily overwhelm a single player unless the player concentrates them one by one. Using grenades at that point, especially the Thermite Molotov, is effective to quickly dispose of them.

Drops

Rook Helmets will only drop when hitting Rook in the head with a blunt/heavy weapon, or shooting it off (the Makeshift Crossbow and Grinder do not work). Helmets can be knocked off even if the Rook is dead.
