The Pool Room is an Anteverse location the player will be teleported to after sitting in The Red Chair.

Description

The Pool Room resembles a spacious, pool-like room with stairs that seemingly lead to nowhere. Additionally, invisible beings inhabit the area, attacking the player upon walking through the water. Several staircases lead up into blinding light, which will teleport the player to another location in the same area. Some of the other lights embedded in the walls will do the same.

Strategy

To exit the area, the player must find a well-camouflaged button, which looks like a small off-color grey raised tile on one of the rounded walls or pillars. The button appears in a random location every visit. Pressing the button triggers the opening of a large gate, allowing passage out of the room.

When leaving Anteverse XIX (The Pool Room), the player will appear in one of three holding cells in the Cascade Laboratories, depending on where the player passes through the arch (left, middle, or right).

It will also grant the player the Crowley's Curse debuff, which increases move speed while crouched but slows normal movement and sprinting.

Resources

The only resource that can be found in The Pool Rooms is Tainted Water, and the Bio Scrap Bio Scrap, Plastic Scrap Plastic Scrap, and Glass Scrap Glass Scrap that can be fished from it.

Enemies

An invisible, unnamed enemy is present in this location and can occasionally be heard stomping. Despite its invisibility, its attacks suggest it functions similarly to the Tarasque or Yeti. The exact number of these enemies is unknown; therefore, players are advised to avoid the water as much as possible. While invisible, the creatures will often, but not always, generate visible splashes when walking through the water. They will also attack anything that is too near to them, even if the player remains outside of the water, so care should be taken if the stomping sounds too nearby. The enemy cannot be killed do not waste your time.

Leyak can also spawn in this area.

Notes

  • The only area that never seems to spawn the invisible creatures is the large symmetrical side room that has an exit with a low ceiling on one side, making it the only fully safe location to build anything.
  • The Pool Room is a reference to the fictional liminal space called The Pool Rooms.
