Statuses are game mechanics in Abiotic Factor. They are shown in the Status section of the Health screen.

Hunger

Over time, the player's hunger and/or thirst meter will decrease. If it gets too low, a countdown will appear on screen telling the player that they need to eat or drink something immediately. If the player lets the countdown run out, they'll instantly perish.

Eating food will recover the player's hunger meter according to the food item's listed Hunger Fill value. Acquiring too much radiation can cause the player to throw up, which will reduce the player's hunger meter. Eating certain bad food items (like Rotten Food) will cause the player to acquire the Sick debuff, which will cause them to throw up multiple times, reducing the player's hunger meter each time.

Thirst

Drinking Water or other drinks will recover the player's thirst meter. Drinking Tainted Water will also recover the player's thirst meter, but it will also cause the player to acquire the Sick debuff, which will cause the player to throw up multiple times, reducing the player's thirst meter each time.

Dehydration warning

Continence

Drinking and eating will cause the player's continence meter to decrease. The continence meter can be recovered by using any toilet, during which a mini-game can be played to speed up the process.

If the meter is low enough, a countdown will initiate, indicating that the player must find a toilet. If the player lets the countdown run out, then they'll stop moving briefly and poop on the floor, acquiring the Stinky debuff, and their continence meter will reset to max.

If the player has pooped on the floor, the feces can be collected if the player has Plastic Scrap in their inventory. Bag of Feces can be more reliably collected by specifically using a Makeshift Toilet.

Fatigue

Over time, the player's fatigue meter will decrease. If it gets too low, a countdown will appear on screen telling the player that they need to sleep. If the player lets the countdown run out, they'll immediately die. Sleeping will recover the player's fatigue meter quickly, while resting will recover the player's fatigue meter slowly. Drinking Coffee by buying it from a Coffee Machine will recover the player's fatigue meter by 30.
