Summary
I've always wondered why the particle labs have that big tree, and the collider is in manufacturing. Its probably because management had to replace the entire lab after the "incident" involving the first Synchrotron. Since they clearly had free space, they decided to liven things up with some greenery. After all, what POSSIBLE harm could the staff do with a vaguely anomalous tree? :)
