The Order is an enigmatic militant-religious Organization, concerned with the containment of what they describe generally as "Chaos". They act as an Antagonist in Abiotic Factor. Their members are encountered as Enemies throughout the game, as well as occasionally dead or wounded. On precious few occasions, they may talk instead of firing at the first sight of a scientist.
As they are apparently an organization rooted in gnostic faith, they prominently use it's symbols (such as the Ankh/Crux Ansata), and communicate with eachother in Latin. They also take their ranking designation from pre-augustian roman military organization. This suggests that they are an organization dating back perhaps as far as the reign of Constantine the Great.
Before the events of Abiotic Factor, they are implied to have been monitoring not just the GATE Cascade Research Facility but other every GATE facility accusing them of serious crimes of heresy and many more.

They are also directly responsible for the Events of the game unfolding, due to their intrusion into the facility and removal of the Dark Lens.
