Resources and Sub-components is a crafting sub-category of items in Abiotic Factor. Items in this category usually don't have utilities by themselves, but are used as part of recipes for other items or as required items in progression throughout the facility.
In the category name, resources refers to items which are found by destroying objects or scrapping at the 
Repair and Salvage Station (such as 
Glass Scrap or 
Security Bot CPU). In the same way, sub-components is a reference to items which are used as intermediary steps to complex crafting recipes (such as 
Air Compressor or 
LCD Screen).
