Niketas is a unique hostile enemy that is the preacher and leader of the cult of Canaan.

Niketas is the founder of Canaan and its head preacher. Learning of Petrae from a former Order Inquisitor, he took it upon himself to lead his flock and find Paradise with the help of the "holy" Lodestone.

The leader and spiritual head of Canaan, Niketas is a power unto himself in the remote village. Information on his life before Canaan is scarce, indicating possible erasure. How he gained possession of the artifact he calls 'the Lodestone', and how he used it to ignite his cult is unclear. He describes himself as a 'follower of Petrae', but betrays few clues as to who this 'messenger' - upon whom he bases his teachings - ultimately is or was. The source or chemical makeup of the pyrotechnics used by the population is likewise uncertain, but there may be a correlation to the aforementioned artifact. He certainly uses these esoteric "talents" to sway the simple folk of Canaan, who revere him as a prophet and pilgrim frequently to his chapel to be granted the gift of this peculiar flame.

He is found preaching to the villagers in the large church building at the top of the village.

Combat Tips

Before starting combat, getting rid of his followers first is essential as they could kill the player more easily than Niketas himself. Niketas is also very durable and can take a lot of damage. It is advised to avoid his ranged "explosive" grenades as they do holy damage, which completely ignores armor and can quickly kill the player.

While fighting him in melee is possible, he will move often before throwing his "holy" grenades. Hence, range weapons and thrown explosives would work better.

Slushie Bombs also work incredibly well. They freeze Niketas in place, making it easier and safer to follow up with melee or ranged attacks.

Friends, let this truth reach your souls. The deceiver's work surrounds us. Guided by Petrae, we named this blessed place Canaan, and strive to make it so ... but there is no such place on this earth. For does not Petrae tells [sic] us that we shall never inherit paradise less we adjure this cafe, this world, this flesh entirely? This world, our very bodies, were crafted to capture and tether us in torment. Yea, the enemy is close, and conspires against us - his haridans have removed our Lodestone! But we were not defeated! We have claimed his tools, and shall turn his weapons of deceit against him! By the very wheels of damnation we will open Gateway to Truth! Parting the curtain that conceals, we will purify our souls to meet with flory in that distant place! Then shall the door to paradise unlock and the treasures of eternity appear!
