Mystagogue Eye

The Gatekeepers' Mystagogue support robots, Mystagogue Eyes are enemies found in Reactors and Shadowgate. After completing Reactors, they will appear in previous areas such as the Data Farm.

Appearance

Mystagogue Eyes are spherical robots with a single glowing eye, four stubby cylinders and a segmented cone at their rear. When engaging an enemy, the four sections of their shell split apart and they generate a pale blue laser beam from their lens.

Gameplay

Behavior

When not in combat, they can be found idle or wandering around. They always accompany and support a Mystagogue, alerting them to any nearby enemies or players. If a Mystagogue Eye is destroyed, its connected Mystagogue will immediately come to investigate.

Combat

Like their partners, Mystagogue Eyes float around the area and support their partner.

• • Note that if Mystagogues are killed before their Mystagogue Eye are, any remaining Mystagogue Eyes will start firing at any present player with a highly accurate laser attack. This behavior can activate if the Mystagogue has spawned many Mystagogue Eyes or has otherwise "unbound" itself from the Mystagogue Eye, making it highly aggressive.
  • If Mystagogue Eyes fall into water, they will sink and become a dangerous long-distance hazard, even capable of reaching through the surface of the water.
  • Stealthy, long-distance weapons (such as the Energy Pistol) are recommended for disposing of Mystagogue Eyes before taking on their master.
  • Mystagogue Eyes are fragile, so a well-placed grenade can destroy all of a Mystagogue's support at once.
  • Mystagogue Eyes can deal damage to each other, accidentally destroying other Mystagogue Eyes with their lasers.
