Money

Money is an item in Abiotic Factor. Unlike other items, Money is collected into a separate counter named "MONEY" which can be seen at the top of the inventory tab. It is used to purchase items from Interactable Objects where each item costs $1.

It is worth noting that there are two forms of Money: small and large stacks. Small stacks are worth $2, while large stacks are worth $6. However, picking up a large stack placed in the world as a resource node converts it into a small stack item. This can be worked around by hitting it with any melee weapon or tool, or by using a Vacuum to collect it. Either method allows the Money to be picked up as a large stack like it should be.

Money resource nodes spawn in a pattern that is inconsistent with portal resets. They randomly select from their spawn locations with a high chance of spawning. This spawn attempt seems to occur every time someone reloads the area. Whether this be by joining and leaving the game or by leaving the portal world and coming back.

Interestingly, despite taking place in Australia, GATE and the order appears to use American currency based on visual similarity to the US 1 dollar bill, and because Australia replaced the 1 dollar note with a 1 dollar coin in 1984.

Money can be found throughout the game as loose stacks, is occasionally dropped by Order enemies, can be found as random loot in containers (mostly lockers or sometimes filing cabinets), or through salvaging some furniture (such as couches). An (incomplete) guide to locations with Money is:
