“ | How we were able to even contain this I have no idea. I'm just glad we don't have a whole data team that wasn't doing any work for months and months anymore. | ” |
~ Dr. Richard K. Moyer |
Description
Located within the Data Farm of the Office Sector on Level 2 and currently in containment, IC-0404 appears to be a cathode-ray tube monitor that has no physical interior properties and is indistinguishable to any other monitor. X-ray analysis determines the internal space to have no components or interior and therefore should only weigh equal to the plastic casing, however the weight and mass is that of a standard CRT Monitor of the same brand and make.
Due to it's anomalous amnestic effects, all personnel exposed to IC-0404 were unable to determine the cause of their memory loss nor were able to take initiative to resolve said amnesia. Personal embarrassment or confusion caused by IC-0404 led to the anomalous object not being found until several months into the initial reports of mental fatigue and holiday requests to HR.
Investigations began in the Data Farm when Dr. Richard K. Moyer discussed lack of performance and deficiency with individual employees that were effected by IC-0404 to senior managers overlooking the Office Sector. It was found that a portion of researchers and analysts made similar complaints of mental fatigue that worked in a certain area of Level 2, their conclusions were primarily focused on the possibility of gas, lighting or collective ailment being responsible.
As the inquiry was instigated by external discussions outside the radius, we can therefore establish that the amnesia only effects those within the area of IC-0404. Current classifications warrant the object to be Crucis due to its ability to cause those within the area of effect to become ineffectual and the possible lasting mental damage thereof, those affected have ongoing monthly examinations by a psychiatrist to try to recover any memory that was lost during that time or whether their memory returns at all.
Containment Protocols
At present IC-0404 is held in containment, placed in the middle of a standard holding room with 8 meters / 26 feet of empty space from the object. Currently there are no methods of investigation where researchers can reliably enter, examine and exit the room without memory loss regardless of external instruction or inputs. X-ray scans were only possible due to its limited area of effect and the technology we currently possess.
Internal investigations are underway to discover how IC-0404 was identified and contained, however because of the possibly permanent loss of memory caused by the object, examinations and review of the employees affected is unsuccessful. And no information outside the complaints by Dr. Richard K. Moyer to senior managers or the personal concerns by employees raised to HR are documented.

[REDACTED], I'm submitting a request for three (3) days holiday from Tuesday, I've been having regular headaches and I can't seem to remember a lot lately, I nearly put my coffee in the trash when I sat down and [REDACTED] gave me a list of recent stats on [REDACTED] that I have misplaced but I think he picked up the report yesterday off my desk since it's empty. |
